About Silicon Valley Chapter

The boards of directors of the Palo Alto Area Chapter and the Santa Clara Valley Chapter of American Red Cross agreed to merge and create a new, single entity that will serve the entire county effective January 1, 2009. The new American Red Cross Silicon Valley Chapter will combine the resources of the two leading organizations and provide enhanced services to residents throughout Santa Clara County.

Mission

To provide relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.

TERRITORY

All businesses, organizations and the nearly 2 million residents of Santa Clara County.

FUNDING

The American Red Cross is not a government agency. Local Chapters are not funded by the National organization. The Silicon Valley Chapter receives most of its funding from local residents and companies. The annual budget for Fiscal Year 2009 is approximately $4 million.
