Autry National Center of the American West

About Autry National Center

The Autry National Center explores the experiences and perceptions of the diverse peoples of the American West through innovative exhibitions, a broad range of programs and an extensive collection of art and artifacts.

The Autry National Center began with the merger of the Gene Autry Western Heritage Museum, co-founded by Gene and Jackie Autry and Monte and Joanne Hale, and the Southwest Museum of the American Indian, founded by Charles Fletcher Lummis.

Today, the Autry National Center consists of three institutions: the Southwest Museum of the American Indian, the Museum of the American West (formerly the Museum of Western Heritage), and the Institute for the Study of the American West.
